Brazzaville- The government of Congo Brazzaville, led by President Denis Sassou Nguesso, has vehemently denied recent rumors of a coup attempt. This denial comes after several media outlets reported a coup attempt while the president was away from the country.

The rumors began circulating on Sunday, causing concern and uncertainty among the populace. However, in a swift response, the Minister of Communication and Media, Thierry Moungalla, took to Twitter to dispel these speculations.

In his tweet, Minister Moungalla stated, "URGENT – Fanciful information suggests serious events that are underway in Brazzaville. The Government denies this fake news. We reassure the public opinion about the calm that reigns and invite people to calmly go about their activities."

This resolute denial by the government aims to quell any panic or confusion among the citizens and restore confidence in the nation's stability.

President Denis Sassou Nguesso, a former military officer, has been in power since 1997. His leadership has seen both progress and challenges in the country, making any potential threat to his rule a matter of significant concern. However, the government's swift response and denial of the coup attempt rumors indicate its commitment to maintaining stability and security in Congo Brazzaville.

As the situation continues to develop, the government remains vigilant in its efforts to safeguard the nation's democratic processes and the well-being of its citizens.
