Minister Lugolobi Commissions 12 Buildings Worth 2 Billion Shillings to Transform Education in Kayunga District

Kayunga District, September 23, 2023 - In a move set to reshape the educational landscape in Kayunga District, State Minister for Finance and Ntenjeru North MP, Amos Lugolobi, has officially inaugurated 12 state-of-the-art school buildings. These structures, totaling a remarkable 2 billion Ugandan shillings, were unveiled in a ceremony attended by jubilant parents, enthusiastic students, and dedicated teachers.

The dire state of school infrastructure in Kayunga District had been a growing concern for parents and educators alike, casting a shadow over the quality of education in the region. Responding to these concerns, Minister Lugolobi embarked on an ambitious mission to secure funding to revamp the ailing education sector.

A decisive victory came when Minister Lugolobi successfully lobbied for the allocation of 2 billion shillings, channeled through the District Education Department, to rejuvenate schools in Kayunga. This substantial investment aimed to provide students with a conducive and modern learning environment.

The beneficiaries of this transformative initiative include Namusaala RC Primary School, Bumali C/U Primary School, Bumali UMEA Primary School, Namirembe Public Primary School, St. Peters Lusenke Primary School, Ki Window CU Primary School, Ssezibwa CU Primary School, Namulanda RC Primary School, Kayunga Mixed Primary School, Kanjuki CU Primary School, Bukujju UMEA Primary School, and Namagabi UMEA Primary School. Each of these schools received three state-of-the-art classroom buildings.

Minister Lugolobi, during the project's launch at Namusaala RC Primary School, expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts of parents and teachers in improving education quality in Kayunga. He pledged his commitment to furthering the development of the education sector throughout his term.

“My people of Ntenjeru North, I am here to ensure that the education sector in this area flourishes. I will not stand idly by when I have the means to help. As your MP for this five-year term, I am dedicated to making positive changes in Kayunga, especially in education,” said Lugolobi.

He emphasized the necessity of providing a conducive learning environment for young children and allocated the funds to construct new buildings after identifying the dismal state of existing structures.

Dr. Dan Bubaale, the Kayunga District Education Officer, hailed the government's intervention in the education sector, anticipating that these new facilities would enhance both the quality of education and students' academic performance. He noted that the new classrooms would comfortably accommodate over 6,000 students, complete with well-furnished classrooms, desks, and pit latrines.

“We are witnessing a significant improvement in the education department of Kayunga District compared to previous years. Our students are now achieving close to 1,000 first grades, a substantial increase from the 600 we had last year,” Bubaale stated.

He also highlighted the increased number of teachers and school inspectors in the district, ensuring effective oversight and support for educational activities.

Dr. Bubaale extended his gratitude to Minister Lugolobi for his unwavering dedication to education in Kayunga, pledging to maintain and safeguard the newly constructed buildings for the benefit of students.

Kayunga District Chairperson Andrew Muwonge commended Minister Lugolobi's proactive approach and assured the community that all funds allocated to the district would be transparently managed for the betterment of the people of Kayunga.

The event was a testament to the collaborative spirit of parents, teachers, and local leaders, as they celebrated the significant investment in their children's education. This substantial improvement in learning environments, classrooms, and desks is poised to have a lasting impact on the academic prospects of the students in Kayunga District.
