By Kundu Ronald

Mitooma District, Uganda - The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Thomas Tayebwa, has embarked on a mission to monitor and enhance various development projects within his constituency, Ruhinda North, during the current parliamentary recess.

Mr. Tayebwa has been actively engaging with the local communities in Ruhinda North, focusing on strategies for wealth creation, with a particular emphasis on the Parish Development Model (PDM). This hands-on approach to governance is aimed at addressing the specific needs and aspirations of his constituents.

Speaking about his ongoing efforts, Mr. Tayebwa stated, "The meetings at the parish level have helped me gather valuable insights from both beneficiaries of government programs and those who are still awaiting assistance. Thus far, I have visited Rutokye Town Council and Kigyende Subcounty. Today, I am in Kanyabwanga Sub County, continuing this vital mission."

The Deputy Speaker expressed his commitment to transforming Ruhinda North into a model constituency for the successful implementation of the Parish Development Model. He underscored the importance of closing service delivery gaps to enable local residents to participate fully in the money economy.

Mr. Tayebwa is optimistic about the impact of the Parish Development Model on his constituents and other Ugandans across the nation. He noted, "Despite a few challenges in the implementation process, the community overwhelmingly appreciates this government program."

The Parish Development Model (PDM) is a bold government initiative designed to uplift the 39% of the population currently trapped in subsistence farming or excluded from the broader economic landscape. Through this program, the government aims to empower individuals and communities to transition into more prosperous and economically active lifestyles.

Mr. Tayebwa's active involvement in monitoring and improving the implementation of government programs within his constituency exemplifies his dedication to ensuring that the benefits of PDM and other initiatives reach the people of Ruhinda North and beyond. His commitment to service and engagement with local communities serves as a beacon of hope for progress and development in Uganda.
