In a recent statement, His Excellency President Yoweri K. Museveni of Uganda revealed the successful airstrike carried out by the Ugandan Air Force against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists operating along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The President addressed the nation, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts with neighboring countries to combat this menace.
The operation, which took place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, saw the Ugandan Air Force target four ADF terrorist positions located between 100 and 150 kilometers from the Ugandan border, specifically on the Ntoroko side. These targets were identified with the assistance of Special Duties Regiments (SDR) equipped with advanced reconnaissance assets.
According to intelligence reports, the airstrike resulted in significant casualties among the terrorists, including the notorious figure, Meddie Nkalubo. Nkalubo was allegedly responsible for orchestrating various bombings in Kampala, such as those near the Police Station, Parliament, Kayanja's Church, and the Bunamwaya area. President Museveni sternly warned that those who have been involved in harming Ugandans will face the consequences of their actions.
President Museveni expressed gratitude to President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo for allowing Ugandan forces to collaborate with the Congolese Army in liberating this part of the DRC from the grip of these violent extremists. The joint efforts aim not only to eliminate these criminals but also to hold them accountable for the atrocities committed against Ugandans, including the brutal killing of children, religious leaders, and prominent figures like Major Kiggundu, General Katumba's daughter, Joan Kagezi, among others.
The President's statement made it clear that those involved in such heinous acts have a limited time to surrender, or they will face dire consequences. President Museveni emphasized that the Ugandan government will continue to work closely with neighboring countries to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
